Amuse is a seasonal, farm to table driven restaurant, located on the third floor of the museum. Whether you are dining in our main dining room, full-service bar, or our private dining room, you will be able to take in sweeping views of the Robins Sculpture Garden and the museum’s Cochrane Atrium. Our team works diligently to provide a menu that is directly inspired by the art-filled surroundings, current exhibitions, and seasonality while also carefully selecting only the finest ingredients from local vendors, artisans, and farmers. Just a friendly reminder that the museum does not allow balloons, confetti, glitter, plants potted with soil, and candles with open flames. If a date and time you seek for a reservation appears to be full, please give us a call so we can see what other times might be available.

Per my usual dining experience at Amuse, the food, the service & the ambience were all exquisite. This was my first visit during the serving of Brunch & I must admit, once again the staff at Amuse did not disappoint. I had the Butternut Squash soup as my appetizer. It was just delightful. It was rich & creamy & full of flavor. As my entree, I had the Black Truffled Eggs. They were light & fluffy & I was able to taste the truffle oil, which was not too heavy. As always, I enjoyed my time spent at Amuse & look forward to my next visit.

The food, as always, was fantastic. The service, as always, was exceptional. It is hands down, one of the best restaurants in the Richmond and I try to test as many restaurants as possible. Beautiful view, friendly staff, will definitely be back. My favorite restaurants locally source their food which Amuse does, we appreciate the hard work of the chefs coming up with such amazing menus with such wonderful flavors. The hostess was very pleasant, the wait person, Nabiha, not sure I spelled that correctly, was very knowledgeable about the menu and provided excellent service and the manager spoke with us to make sure we enjoyed our meal and we did.

The menu is creative, but the food is only so-so. A tea bread was dry, a ham and cheese "muffin special" was mostly muffin. Service staff seemed stretched a bit thin. The bar and food service were slow. The room is wonderful and a pleasant experience.

We booked a prix fixe, three-course dinner to celebrate Valentine's Day. But there wasn't much to celebrate. Nestled in the museum that focuses on creativity, our meal and the ambiance surrounding it were about as ho-hum as they come. The first course was OK, but both of our entrees were just this side of a "TV Dinner." We asked that our desserts be boxed for take-home. They were of a size that would have fit in my pocket. That said, the service was good; our wait person was cordial and attentive. But the food and atmosphere were disappointing. Adding insult to injury, this dining experience didn't come cheap. As special as VMFA strives to be the visual arts, maybe they should try a bit harder in the culinary arts.

Great food, amazing service by Olivia Unfortunately bartender and other servers talked rather loudly about personal things while standing at the edge of the bar.

I’d heard so much about Amuse, I was excited to finally try it. The decor and ambience were not great - outdated and bad (fluorescent?) lighting. The food was good but nothing special. I got the chicken and dumplings and the chicken was quite dry. The service, however, was fantastic! I’m glad we tried it but probably won’t go back.
