About this restaurant

  • Good for special occasions
  • Great for scenic views
  • Innovative
Amuse is a seasonal, farm to table driven restaurant, located on the third floor of the museum. Whether you are dining in our main dining room, full-service bar, or our private dining room, you will be able to take in sweeping views of the Robins Sculpture Garden and the museum’s Cochrane Atrium. Our team works diligently to provide a menu that is directly inspired by the art-filled surroundings, current exhibitions, and seasonality while also carefully selecting only the finest ingredients from local vendors, artisans, and farmers. Just a friendly reminder that the museum does not allow balloons, confetti, glitter, plants potted with soil, and candles with open flames. If a date and time you seek for a reservation appears to be full, please give us a call so we can see what other times might be available.

We tried the Wednesday Supper Menu which was outstanding. Billy Joe our waiter was wonderful. The noise level is rather high and I feel if the glass windows were made to slide open on a good day, the noise levels could be managed better. Big investment but may be worthwhile in the long run.

While we originally had planned to reserve a table at Floris (the other restaurant on the property) and were a little saddened not to be going to tea service, this luncheon was the absolute best mistake I’ve ever made. The hostess even called the other restaurant for us to see if we could get a table. When we couldn’t, however, we leaned into the experience. The menu, inspired by Kahlo’s art, was a fine blend of VA southern and Mexican. We started with the Love Embrace cocktail, a spicy, flowery vodka drink that looked as good as it tasted. From there, we tried the spoon bread and roasted beet appetizers. Both were flavorful and eye catching. Entrees of scallops and chorizo with ramps were both pleasing to both palate and eyes. The chorizo dish, while appearing unassuming in the menu, was one of the best meals I’ve had in Richmond. Our server, Max, was attentive and well versed on the menu and the museum. Highly recommend visiting this lovely spot for lunch or dinner.

I have eaten here many times over the years. It never fails to impress. The chef is a genius, and the service is always impeccable. Currently, the menu is reflective of the Frieda Kahlo exhibit. A number of the appetizers and entrees evoke a Mexican influence. Excellent!

Amuse never disappoints. Their menu creatively changes with every big exhibit. They have lovely cocktails, and their oysters are the best in the city.
