BAKU is a Japanese Robata-style restaurant that showcases outstanding Sushi and innovative Robata and Yakatori cuisine. Casual everyday dining downstairs with a upscale lounge upstairs. We specialize in creating an unique and memorable experience for every occasion.



For parties of 8 or more guests, we do require a $50 Non-Refundable Deposit to confirm reservations. This deposit is applied to the bill at time of reservation.                                                                                                               First off, the service is excellent, and the drinks were fantastic. But, the restaurant is incredibly dark, like eating in a cave. So dark everyone around us pulled out their phone flashlights to read their menus. The food was pretty mediocre, it might have looked good, but we had no way of knowing because, again, so dark. The sushi was incredibly bland, and just uninspired. For 30 dollars a roll I expected to be wowed, and was bored instead. It's boring dull food at an inflated price. Honestly, we found eating their sushi pretty tedious, like it was a chore. The most interesting dish by far was the yakitori tofu, and would have that again. Also their soy sauce was a high point. Overpriced, underwhelmed, but the service to bring the most boring meal of my life was excellent. Summary: boring food, overpriced, great cocktails and excellent service.

                                                                                                              We had an amazing dinner at Baku. When you walk in the ambiance automatically relaxes you and prepares you for an experience like no other. The staff were all pleasant and quickly showed us to our 2 top table near a window. While the bar was nearby, it wasn’t a distraction. The food!! The sushi was simply a delight to the eyes and the palate and the chicken we ordered was juicy and flavorful! The desert was nice and a standard lava cake but all the right consistency and the i e cream was in a bowl so as to not melt so quickly- thoughtful!! All to say, we loved the experience and plan to come back again soon!

Tapas-style delivery, Baku is a great opportunity to try many small plates and share with the table the best freshest sushi Charlotte offers. There is a quiet atmosphere downstairs and a relaxed more energetic vibe upstairs. Will definitely be back,
