About this restaurant

  • Good for special occasions
  • Great for fine wines
  • Charming
Bistro du Midi's cuisine features French Cuisine inspired by Coastal New England influences. Our wine list represents the true soul of a bistro wine list. In a classic French bistro, wine is very much a part of every meal. As such, we offer a variety of experiences and wines at a tremendous value in a range of prices. Our elegant yet relaxed environment overlooks Boston's beautiful Public Garden with a spectacular view. A street level Bistro features floor-to-ceiling windows, and in the spring and summer our patio provides some of the most optimal al fresco dining in the city.

We went to Bistro du Midi for ‘Dine out Boston’ lunch menu. The overall experience was mixed. The restaurant was nice and cozy and the wait staff were pleasant and accommodating. For appetizers we had the cauliflower soup which was tasty but was a little on the salty side. The grapefruit pieces provided with dish gave a much needed acidity but I wish it had more. The wagu beef tartare was excellent, great flavor and well balanced. For the main course, we both got the duck confit which came on top of bed of beans and contained bacon pieces. The duck itself was cooked perfectly. However, the beans were cooked a little under al dente and were on the salty side. The desserts were great, my favorite was the crème brûlée. The total was about $100 including tip, but this was for lunch.

Bistro du Midi is one of our favorite restaurants in Boston, and has been for a long time. The food, the service, and the overall atmosphere are consistently excellent. Our recent dinner there was no exception. Our table was not immediately ready, but the maitre d’ for the dining room made the wait relaxing and enjoyable. We were sitting at the bar, deciding what drinks to order while we waited and she came up and handed each of us a glass of excellent champagne and wished us a happy anniversary. Then on the way out while we were waiting by the first floor entrance for our Uber I asked the gentlemen working at the podium just inside the door if he knew the track that was playing. He said he did not, but he immediately opened up an app on his phone, held it up towards the speaker and got me the name of the singer. All in all a great evening.

We decided to try it out for Dine Out Boston and were floored by how good our experience was. Every course we got seemed better than the one before and the service was outstanding. We will most definitely be back!

We had the dine out Boston prix fixe. Its pretty good value for $55 at a place like this. Their cooking is clearly solid and the food was good, but not amazing. There were small slips in food and service. The steak dish was not as hot as I would have liked, it had clearly been left to sit too long, and we had to wait for the wine to arrive after getting our starter. They also accidentally billed us for an extra bottle of water (which they removed). The whole impression was of a good restaurant but one which was phoning it in a bit on the dine out Boston menu.

Our server only dropped our food and didn’t check on us in between. I had one drink all night due to this. Very unfortunate….

Excellent food specially the madeleines for dessert. Great wait staff and host in the upstairs dining room. The only sour note was the unfriendly host at the downstairs entrance who told us it would be a long wait for a table in the dining room. When we went upstairs to the dining room, we were seated immediately. So strange.

Thank you for the very nice compliments. I apologize for the seating complication, but I am pleased to see you had an overall enjoyable lunch experience. Best regards, Errol Joseph, GM
