Diners’ Choice Award Winners – Best for outdoor dining

While we may still be waiting for some proper summer sunshine. OpenTable are thrilled to announce the 2014 Diners’ Choice award winners for the Top 50 Outdoor Dining Restaurants in the UK. The awards represent the opinions of 325,000 diners who submitted reviews in the last year*.

The Perkin Reveller, London

The 21 London winners include some of the capital’s best-loved riverside restaurants, rooftop terraces and gastropub gardens. Restaurants on the water proved popular, with Thames-side venues like Le Pont de la Tour, Butlers Wharf Chop House and The Perkin Reveller all making the list. Londoners will be pleased to see that neighbourhood favourites like Ostuni, The Red Lion & Sun, and The Summerhouse made the cut too.

Outside of London, British restaurants and gastropubs lead the way. The winners are scattered across the UK but Kent and Hampshire stood out as prime alfresco dining territory.

Rocksalt, Folkestone

Coastal restaurants also proved a hit with OpenTable diners. If you’re planning a summer staycation, don’t miss the harbourside terrace at Rocksalt in Folkestone; the Cornish coastal favourite, Lewinnick Lodge; or the clifftop tables with stunning sea views at Pebble Beach.

*The Diners’ Choice Awards for the Top 50 Outdoor Dining Restaurants in the UK are generated from 325,000 restaurant reviews collected from verified OpenTable diners between May 1, 2013, and April 30, 2014. All restaurants with a minimum number of qualifying reviews were included for consideration. Qualifying restaurants were then sorted according to a score calculated from each restaurant’s average rating in the outdoor eating category along with a minimum overall rating.
