In Peru, National Pisco Sour Day is celebrated every year on the first Saturday in February. Closer to home, London’s Peruvian restaurants have joined forces to celebrate Peru’s national drink with a full week of special drinks and offers. Here are some of the best places to grab a wristband and get your pisco fix.
Coya, Mayfair – The bar team at Coya create their own infusions by blending pisco with natural juices. To celebrate London’s first Pisco Sour Week, they’re serving a £15 Pisco Sour flight of three seasonal flavour infusions – raspberry and thyme, rhubarb, and Williams pear.
Chotto Matte, Soho – For one week only, Chotto Matte’s excellent Pisco Sours will only set you back a fiver! A great excuse to book a table and sample their Nikkei (Japanese-Peruvian) menu. We’re big fans of their lobster ceviche and the sea bass sashimi with yuzu truffle soy.
Senor Ceviche, Soho – At this colourful eatery just off Carnaby Street, they’re serving £5 Pisco Sours all week so you’ll have more cash to spend on their smoky chicken wings and sticky BBQ pork ribs. It gets busy, especially at weekends, so book ahead to beat the crowd.
Lima Floral, Covent Garden – Round up some friends for a Peruvian feast at Lima Floral and then hit their Pisco Bar for £5 Pisco Sours and £10 Pisco tasting flights.
Pachamama, Marylebone – Pachamama is the latest addition to London’s Peruvian food scene and they’re shaking up four different £5 sours all week. They use a mix of British and Peruvian ingredients in dishes like Cornish sea bass ceviche, crispy lamb belly with green miso, and spiced ribs with salsa criolla.
Best of the rest: The pisco will also be flowing at Tito’s, Tierra Peru, and Gordon Ramsay’s Maze. At Maze, they’re serving a Pisco Sour made with yuzu juice to reflect the menu’s Asian influence.
