New OpenTable restaurants: Sosharu, Yard & Coop, The Woodford and more

If you’ve got the back-to-work blues after the long weekend, we’ve got the perfect cure – a killer line-up of new restaurants for you to try! It’s time to start planning your next night out…

Sosharu – This month’s hottest new opening is Jason Atherton’s izakaya-style restaurant in Clerkenwell. It serves ‘casual yet refined’ Japanese dishes like scallop sashimi, prawn and avocado tempura, and the insta-famous tuna temaki.

The Lighterman – Now open in King’s Cross, The Lighterman serves a seasonal all-day menu in its light and airy dining room. There’s a canal-side bar and three alfresco terraces that should prove very popular this summer.

Savini at Criterion – Savini, one of the most famous restaurants in Milan, has opened an opulent Italian restaurant in the heart of Piccadilly Circus. It’s open all day serving breakfasts, afternoon tea, and beautifully presented dishes like lobster ravioli, white bean soup with scallop carpaccio, and veal ossobuco with risotto Milanese.

The Woodford – Head chef Ben Murphy and his team offer a sophisticated dining experience in South Woodford. The modern European menu is influenced by Murphy’s time working at Koffmann’s and The Greenhouse.

Pharmacy2 – At Damien Hirst’s restaurant, launched in collaboration with Mark Hix, diners can enjoy classic British and European dishes in a unique setting within the Newport Street Gallery. The restaurant features work from some of the artist’s most iconic series including the Medicine Cabinets and butterfly Kaleidoscope paintings.

Also new in London: Dickie Fitz; Anderson & Co; Oliver Maki; Gyoza Bar; Red Dog Saloon Soho; and Primeur,

Dive – For a great night out in the Northern Quarter, head to Dive for killer cocktails, fully-loaded nachos, and sliders piled high with spiced beef, buffalo chicken or pulled pork. It’s perfect for parties or for lunchtime beers and tacos.

Yard & Coop – Just around the corner from Dive is Yard & Coop, home to some of the finest fried chicken in Manchester. Try their burgers or crispy fried thighs with ‘Jerkalicious’ sauce and a side of mac ‘n’ cheese balls.

The Crown and Punchbowl – This quaint country pub and restaurant is nestled amongst farmhouses in the village of Horningsea, just outside Cambridge. The menu is far from your standard pub grub and includes superb steaks, fresh fish, and their signature meat board for two to share.

CAU – Bringing the best of Buenos Aires to Birmingham, CAU uses the finest Argentinean beef for their steaks, handmade burgers, and delicious steak sandwiches. If you fancy something lighter, try their small plates and salads.

Tony Singh at Apex Grassmarket – Scottish chef and TV personality Tony Singh has opened a new restaurant in Edinburgh serving fusion food that’s perfect for sharing. Get some mates together and tuck into haggis pakoras, BBQ pork doughnuts, fish tacos and Tony’s curry of the day. There’s a kids’ menu for little foodies too.
