The best UK food festivals to visit in September

If you’re not ready to say goodbye to the summer just yet, we’ve got good news. There are tons of food festivals happening all over the UK in September, so there’s time for a few more foodie days out before we start getting excited about Halloween and Christmas. Ludlow Food Festival – 9-11th September

One of the UK’s best-loved food festivals returns to Ludlow Castle for a weekend of food tastings, masterclasses, cooking competitions, and more. There will be over 180 food producers in attendance, plus the ever-popular Ludlow Sausage Trail!

Liverpool Food & Drink Festival – 17-18th September

There’s fun for all the family at Sefton Park this month, with a Kids Village, Chocolate Corner, and demos from celeb chefs like Gino D’Acampo and Nadiya Hussain. There will be fantastic artisan produce to try, as well as food from top local restaurants like Maray, Chaophraya and Bistro Franc.

Abergavenny Food Festival – 17-18th September

Fancy a foodie weekend in Wales? There’s an all-star chef line up at this year’s Abergavenny Food Festival, including José Pizarro and Cyrus Todiwala. Feast on street food from around the world, enjoy a tipple or two in the Gin Palace, and shop until late at the Night Market.

Great Cornish Food Festival – 23-25th September

Combine a late summer trip to Cornwall with a visit to this popular food fest which has two very special guests this year. In addition to the line-up of local chefs and food producers, there will be masterclasses from internationally acclaimed chefs April Bloomfield of The Spotted Pig and Tom Adams of Pitt Cue. Come hungry – there will be food from Jamie Oliver’s Fifteen, The Hidden Kitchen, and The Cornish Venison Co.

Plymouth Seafood Festival – 24-25th September

This harbourside festival celebrates the city’s sustainable seafood with two days of chef demos, competitions, music and shopping. Kids can try their hand at crabbing while grown-ups sample local cheese, cider and fresh fish.

The Festival of Heat: London’s Chilli Festival – 25th September

Get your chilli fix at the annual Festival of Heat! For one day only at Red Market near Old Street, foodies can stock up on chilli sauces, sample spicy street food, and take part in cooking demos and salsa tastings.

Manchester Food & Drink Festival – 29th September–10th October

This year’s highlights include special dinners with chefs Aiden Byrne and Dan Doherty, a vegan banquet, a wine festival, and a tapas trail. The Festival Hub will transform Albert Square into a bustling food village with street food, live music, tasting sessions and a Fever-Tree cocktail bar.
