Amsterdam is a city built for relaxation, whether you’re into museums and canal cruises or bar crawls and neighbourhood strolls. Affordable flights and new Eurostar routes have made it even easier to visit. So pack your bag, prepare to unwind, and check out some of these top brunch spots while you’re there.
Little Collins – After a stroll around the Albert Cuyp Market or nearby Sarphatipark, you can refuel at Little Collins – a warm and welcoming neighbourhood gem. Expect Aussie-influenced dishes like chipotle and black bean waffles, harissa smashed avo on toast, and green eggs and ham. If you’re a little hungover, their kimchi Bloody Mary will fix you right up.
The Lobby at Hotel V – Escape the bustle of Dam Square and linger over coffee and croissants in the elegant surroundings of the Hotel V. Diners with a sweet tooth will love their wentelteefjes – Dutch-style French toast with cinnamon.
Bluespoon at the Andaz – If you’re looking for something really decadent, splash out on Bluespoon’s Sunday brunch buffet. For €39 a head (or €49 with a glass of Champagne), you can help yourself to pastries, charcuterie, fresh salads, plus an a la carte dish of your choice. Be sure to leave room for the dessert buffet!
Bakers & Roasters – This hot spot in De Pijp has New Zealand roots so expect great coffee, brunch cocktails, and hearty dishes like huevos rancheros and smoky aubergine and feta pancakes.
Dignita – Enjoy good food for a great cause at Dignita, where all profits go towards supporting Not For Sale, a charity that helps victims of human trafficking. If you’re looking for healthy options, you’ll love their zucchini and chickpea fritters, nutty granola, and nourishing Buddha bowl.
G’s – One of the original stars of the Amsterdam brunch scene, G’s now has two locations (in Jordaan and De Pijp), as well as a brunch boat that sets sail on weekends. Don’t miss their Huevos Pedro – poached eggs on spelt bread with salsa, avocado, black beans and hollandaise.
Mama Makan – Start your day the Indonesian way with Mama Makan’s Bali Brunch. For €35 a head (or €45 with bottomless drinks), you can enjoy unlimited a la carte dishes, create your own gado gado salad, and an impressive dessert buffet.
Lotti’s – The Hoxton’s café-bar is open all day long – handy for breakfast, a light lunch, or late-night cocktails. At the weekend, brunch options include pancakes, sweet potato rosti with poached eggs, and their signature Hox Monsieur (brioche with Dutch ham and Gruyère).
Wyers Restaurant & Bar – For laid-back vibes, local ingredients, and all-American comfort food, Wyers is the place to be. Come hungry and tuck into a brunch burger, chicken and waffles, or their eggs Benedict with BBQ pulled pork.
The Pancake Bakery – Popular with locals and visitors alike, there’s often a queue to get into this cosy eatery near the Anne Frank House. It’s one of the best spots to try traditional Dutch pancakes with sweet or savoury toppings, as well as huge omelettes and poffertjes (small, fluffy pancakes with butter and sugar).
We’ve only scratched the surface here – there are lots more brunch options to try. You could go for bottomless bubbles at PRESSROOM, catch up over coffee at De Bakkerswinkel, or hang with the locals at American brunch bar Staring at Jacob.
