Chocolate Week: 7 ways to satisfy your sweet tooth

It’s National Chocolate Week! Here are seven of the best ways to satisfy your sweet tooth, including a chocolate-themed afternoon tea and some of the most decadent desserts in London.

Looking for somewhere for your next date night? Book a table for two at Gordon Ramsay’s York & Albany, an elegant British restaurant with a buzzy bar for pre-dinner drinks. This week they’re serving an assiette of desserts including a warm chocolate fondant, gooey brownie, chocolate parfait, mint choc chip ice-cream and white chocolate sorbet for £16. It’s almost too good to share!

At Rabot 1745 in Borough Market, they use freshly roasted cocoa as a subtle savoury spice in their dishes and drinks. Pop in for brunch or afternoon tea, or go for dinner and enjoy 9-hour braised lamb with cacao balsamic glaze or cacao marinated chicken with papaya salad and tamarind-coconut dressing.

In the City, Fish Market is serving a perfect gooey-centred chocolate fondant for £7. Head chef Barry MacMillan has also teamed up with superfood enthusiasts Doisy & Dam to create maca, vanilla and cacao chocolate pots. (The maca root powder gives you a boost of vitamin B12 and it’s also good for your libido!)

At the Flemings Hotel in Mayfair, they serve a Chocoholic Afternoon Tea that’s guaranteed to satisfy your sweet tooth. For £43, guests can linger over dainty sandwiches, chocolate scones and delicious chocolate petit fours, washed down with a pot of tea and a glass of Jacquart Rosé Champagne.

Too cold outside for ice-cream? The Knickerbocker Glory at Social Eating House might just change your mind. This knock-out sundae is made with scoops of cherry, vanilla and chocolate ice cream, chunks of dark and white chocolate brownie, chocolate soil and chocolate vermicelli, plus whipped cream and a golden Griotte cherry on top. It’s perfect for sharing and worth every single calorie.

If you prefer your chocolate in liquid form, head to Bluebird in Chelsea and order their ‘Death by Chocolate’ cocktail. It’s made with chocolate raspberry vodka, cherry liqueur, Chambord, fresh strawberry and Mozart chocolate liqueur, with a serving of chocolate mousse on the side.

At the weekend, The Chocolate Show takes over Olympia for three days of tastings, shopping, and demos from celebrity chefs and chocolatiers. We’re looking forward to the Chocolate Fashion Show and the pop-up dessert bar hosted by Valrhona and Belle Epoque patisserie. You can buy your tickets online now.
