We’re thrilled to announce an exciting new functionality that allows diner to discover and make reservations at restaurants across the globe, in their own language. Now, when you travel, you can use one multi-language global OpenTable app and all your bookings can be managed through your local OpenTable account.
This new global booking functionality gives diners access to over 38,000 restaurants across more than 20 countries, including renowned global dining hot spots like Berlin, New York, Sydney and Toronto.
A recent study of 14,000 global diners revealed that 97% eat out at least once a day when travelling, but that one of the most challenging things when dining abroad was finding the right restaurant. When asked what activities Brits enjoy most when on holiday, dining out came in second place, beaten only by sightseeing. In addition, 45% of the UK agree that dining out abroad is the best way to immerse oneself in local culture. When it comes to choosing a holiday destination, it seems Brits are letting their stomachs lead the way, with 1 in 5 (21%) admitting they choose their holiday destinations based on the restaurant offering. Outside of the UK, New York (15%) is the city British diners feel has the best restaurant offering, followed by Paris (14%) and Rome (9%). Travelling diners are also keen to dine as the locals do, ditching tourist hot spots for hidden gems and local favourites.
Christa Quarles, CEO, OpenTable, comments “This is an exciting moment for OpenTable.
