As the year draws to a close, we are excited to reveal our annual list of the Top 100 Restaurants in the UK. The list is based on nearly one million verified reviews written by OpenTable diners this year.
While London (63%) represents the majority of the list, 2021 has seen regional locations such as Manchester and Greater Manchester (5%), and Liverpool and Merseyside (5%) gain momentum. With diners keen to celebrate and enjoy first-class food, the list features award-winning fine dining destinations like CORE by Clare Smith, Gordon Ramsay’s Petrus, and The Elephant in Torquay, as well as more casual neighbourhood spots.

In a year where comfort food was high on the agenda, diners turned to restaurants for a taste of home. British cuisine came out on top (16%), followed by Modern European (10%) and Steak and Steakhouses (10%). As Brits spent more time at home, neighbourhood bistros and gastropubs also proved popular. In London, locals enjoyed fish and chips by the fire at The Fox & Pheasant, while diners in Didsbury raved about the roasts at Hispi.
In a nod to the UK’s adventurous appetites, the list also includes restaurants serving dishes from Spain, Italy, Poland, and China. Food lovers in the capital were particularly impressed with COYA Mayfair, which serves Peruvian cuisine, and Tanakatsu, a Japanese diner specialising in katsu and teriyaki. In Sheffield, it was the tacos and tequila that kept locals coming back to Mexican street food joint, Piña.
