Taking the number one spot this year is The Ledbury, where critically acclaimed head chef Brett Graham and his team pair innovative European dishes with fine wines in a smart, modern setting. The multi-award-winning Restaurant Gordon Ramsay claimed second place, followed by last year’s winner Restaurant Story.
Clos Maggiore, London’s most romantic restaurant, also made it into the top ten, along with the Thames Foyer at The Savoy Hotel – a top spot for afternoon tea. Alongside these fine dining destinations, the full list recognises neighbourhood gems like The Jones Family Project, Antico, and Duke’s Brew & Que.
The list is dominated by British, European and French restaurants, but in a nod to the UK’s adventurous appetites, it also includes restaurants serving contemporary Indian, Peruvian, and vegetarian cuisine.
Mike Xenakis, Managing Director of OpenTable International, comments “As this year’s results show, London continues to reign as the foodie capital but we are excited to see restaurants from across the UK also included in the list. We are extremely pleased to highlight these standout restaurants and give them, and their hard working chefs and staff, some well-deserved recognition.”
OpenTable diners gave top ratings to L’Ortolan in Berkshire, The Gardeners Cottage in Edinburgh, The Chefs Table in Chester, and The Hinds Head in Bray. Newcastle did particularly well this year, with 21, Blackfriars, and The Broad Chare all making the list. Hawksmoor Manchester, the group’s first steakhouse outside of London, proved a hit, as did local favourite Albert’s Shed.
