Looking for somewhere new to eat this month? Check out some of the great restaurants that have recently joined OpenTable, including some of London’s hottest newcomers.
City Social – Celeb chef and restaurateur Jason Atherton has launched his latest venture on the 24th floor of Tower 42. The City restaurant features Art Deco inspired interiors and impressive views of the London skyline. Exec chef Paul Walsh has put together a modern European menu which includes Cumbrian beef tartare, Dover sole with citrus sabayon, and pork loin and belly with girolles.
Kurobuta – If you like Japanese food, you’ll love this new izakaya-inspired restaurant near Marble Arch. Pop in for cocktails and dishes like Wagyu beef sliders, BBQ pork belly buns and shrimp tempura.
Typing Room – Opening on May 16th, Typing Room is backed by Jason Atherton and replaces Viajante at the Town Hall Hotel in Bethnal Green. Chef Lee Westcott (ex-Claridge’s, Per Se and Noma) will be cooking dishes like pigeon smoked in pine and mackerel with passion fruit, burnt cucumber and dill.
Beast – The team behind Goodman have opened a new Marylebone restaurant where diners will sit at long communal tables for a £75 feast of steak, king crab, and a selection of sides and starters.
Ting at The Shard – On level 35 of The Shard, the Shangri-La Hotel’s restaurant is open all day serving dishes like nasi goreng and curry laksa, as well as traditional afternoon tea.
Also new in London: John Burton-Race’s New Angel; The Blues Kitchen, an all-American bar-diner in Shoreditch; Iberica‘s Farringdon tapas bar; The Noodle House, a south-east Asian eatery in Covent Garden; and Red Dog South, a Clapham BBQ joint.
Bangkok Orchid – At this traditional Thai restaurant in Stockport, locals love the slow-cooked lamb shank massaman curry and seafood dishes like garlic-pepper prawns and sea bass with spicy chilli sauce. There’s even a meat-free menu for vegetarians with a taste for Thai.
The Waterline – For a chilled out night in Newcastle, head for The Waterline – a buzzy bar and kitchen on the quayside overlooking the river Tyne. Start your night with Happy Hour cocktails on their alfresco terrace and then refuel with nachos, pizza or one of their fully-loaded burgers.
Curry Leaf Café – Bringing a slice of South Indian street life to the heart of Brighton, this vibrant café serves great value lunchtime thalis, Indian-inspired brunch dishes, and delicious dosas.
Steak of the Art – This new addition to Bristol’s Harbourside is home to an art gallery as well as a quirky dining room where diners can enjoy top quality steaks and sustainable fish from Cornwall.
