Give your old favourites a break this month and check out some of these OpenTable newcomers, from hot new openings in London to local favourites in Leeds, Brighton and beyond.
Sea Containers – Now open at the Mondrian Hotel, this riverside bar and brasserie is overseen by New York chef Seamus Mullen (of Tertulia fame). Try shareable, Mediterranean-style dishes like charred aubergine with mint labneh, roast sea bass with citrus and salsa verde, and smoked corn fed chicken.
Spring – Skye Gyngell (ex-Petersham Nurseries) has opened her first solo venture at Somerset House on the Strand. Expect ‘wholesome, produce driven’ dishes like slow-cooked pork shoulder with girolles, spice rubbed quail, and scallops with salsify, beurre blanc and borage flowers.
Fera at Claridge’s – Try Simon Rogan’s creative take on British cuisine at his Mayfair restaurant. Book before the end of the year and enjoy our exclusive offer of 3 courses and Champagne for just £35.
The Fish & Chip Shop City – Following the success of his Islington restaurant, Des McDonald has opened a City restaurant serving first class fish and chips, oysters, shrimp burgers and more.
Hubbard & Bell – At the new Hoxton Hotel in Holborn, this slick bar-restaurant serves an American-inspired all-day menu, hearty weekend brunch dishes, and proper Sunday roasts.
The Pudding Bar – If you’ve got a sweet tooth, you’ll love this dessert bar pop-up in the heart of Soho. With its regularly changing menu of stunning puds, it’s perfect for a quirky first date.
Four to Eight – New to Covent Garden is this contemporary Italian restaurant serving small plates, pasta dishes and rare breed meat. We like the sound of their double duck salad and lobster fregola!
Pachamama – London’s passion for Peruvian food shows no signs of slowing down and this Marylebone newcomer is a great place to try ceviche, robata grilled seafood and pisco cocktails.
Also new in London: The Strand Dining Rooms; Salmontini in Belgravia; Le Paris Grill near St Paul’s; Valentina’s new deli-restaurant in Chiswick; and 64 Degrees, a sister to the Brighton original.
Bird and Beast – At this rotisserie joint in Leeds, you can try their chicken with sides of slaw and sweet potato fries, as a roast dinner on Sundays, or with an Eastern twist at their Monday Curry Club.
Café Portrait – Planning a trip to Edinburgh’s National Portrait Gallery? Treat yourself to afternoon tea in their calm and cosy café. Everything is made from scratch using local, organic ingredients.
Fitzbillies – Open through the day serving lunch and cream teas, this Cambridge institution opens for dinner on Thursday, Friday and Saturday nights. Swing by for delicious and affordable British dishes.
The Sausage Emporium – Craving comfort food in Newcastle? Head to The Sausage Emporium for top quality butcher’s bangers, either in a sandwich or with sides like creamy mash and smoky beans.
