The World’s 50 Best Restaurants celebrated this year’s list, and the award’s 15th anniversary, with a star-studded ceremony in Melbourne today. Foodies from around the world tuned into the live stream to watch New York’s Eleven Madison Park knock last year’s winner, Osteria Francescana in Modena, off the top spot. Last year’s number two, El Celler de Can Roca in Girona, is now in third place and also picked up the Ferrari Trento Art of Hospitality Award.

It was a particularly good year for Heston Blumenthal who picked up the Lifetime Achievement Award and also saw his Knightsbridge restaurant, Dinner by Heston Blumenthal, climb five places to 36. Also in London, The Ledbury slipped a few places to 27 and The Clove Club stayed at 26 for the second year running.
If you’re planning a foodie trip abroad this year, we’ve got good news – you can use OpenTable (or use our free app) to book a table at seven of the top 50, including Cosme and Le Bernadin in New York, Nahm in Bangkok, and Quintonil and Pujol in Mexico City.
Huge congratulations to all the chefs and restaurants honoured in this year’s awards!
