Steaks and lobster take center stage at Chophouse ’47. This bustling New York-style steakhouse in Greenville continues to wow year after year (since 2001 to be exact) with ‘Top Restaurant’ awards, as well as wine ‘Award of Excellence’. The exceptional service and high-quality menu includes expertly broiled USDA prime aged beef, colossal baked shrimp and shareable sides; for dessert, dive fork first into white chocolate banana cream pie. Bonus: enjoy all of the above in the private wine room. [The Restaurant and Bar are Non-Smoking | Upscale Casual Dress Code]

Disappointing had christmas eve reservations at 645 and had to wait 90 min. This happened last year as well and thought they would have addressed that issue this year.

We showed up at 6:30pm for a 6:45pm reservation and was told it be a 45 min wait even with our reservation. We went back in to the hostess at 7:15pm and were told it would be another 30 to 45 min and there were still 8 reservations in front of us. Finally went back to the hostess at 740 to ask again about seating and were finally sat just before 8pm. The hostess relayed each time that they overbooked and there was nothing she could do. Dinner was enjoyable but for the value there are other steakhouses that are a better option that I would visit instead.

We made the reservations well in advance. It was a big anniversary. They asked if it was a special occasion and I said it was an anniversary. We made the reservations for 6:15 showed up at 6:10 and we’re seated at 7:40! I almost had a panic attack with all the people gathered in a vestibule waiting for their reservations. It was way too late for me to eat a steak by the time we ordered, which was after 8 o’clock, so I had the salmon which was totally tasteless. They did absolutely nothing for our anniversary. Didn’t even acknowledge it. Very disappointed.

For many years we have eaten here when wanting to experience a top end establishment. Last several years we have made a tradition of dining here on Christmas Eve. However , must be under new mgmt. this visit was a train wreck from beginning to end Made reservations two months ago , arrived to see a mess at the hostess table. Seated 1 hr and 15 min after our reservation time. Never have I experience this., anywhere !! I know it was stressful for the hostess But flippant. And sarcastic “ Merry Christmas” remarks were unappreciated even with us being kind and reserved ( should have left but Christmas Eve , we felt hostage to the situation ) assist mgr was around but did little even with his own staff. Once we arrived at our table. We determined to put it behind us and enjoy. However , Seemed new staff , also the bread vendor must have been changed as previous good bread seemed like pillsbury frozen poppin fresh, charred Brussels sprouts were mush and seemed steamed or boiled , mashed potatoes tasted like instant potatoes , steak was not the typical Pittsburg char and not cut at the table as was typical before . Many changes for the worse , and overpacked to turn tables too quickly. I was shocked and felt bad for our server

Our reservation for 2 was at 6:00. The restaurant was jammed, took 10 minutes to just check in. Were told it would be 45 minutes until we would get a table! We saw many parties get upset and leave. We sat in our car, because there was barely room to stand, until they sent us a text that our table was ready!! Food and service were fantastic. I guess next time we’ll get an earlier reservation for Christmas Eve!!!

Although the food was delicious, all aspects of the venue management were lacking. Clearly overbooked for the holiday, a waiting area was setup outside that guests were directed to for complimentary hors d’oeuvres, however in our 30 minute wait (past reservation) there was never any sign that food was coming, or had ever come. The hostess was rudely dismissive of the many groups trying to legitimately figure out which line to wait in, and too many groups received “table is ready” texts at once just to find another line. While the server seemed to truly try, the fact that we couldn’t use two sides of our table due to overly slanted drop leafs made it hard to settle in and enjoy the food once it arrived (over an hour after ordering). Being told some tables are “just broken” is not a helpful response with a concern is raised. It’s unfortunate that such high quality food and drink couldn’t be enjoyed more due to such basic poor capacity planning.
