- BBruceLos Angeles •2 reviews4.0Dined 3 days agoAAAAmazing food! As good as any sushi I've had anywhere. At least in terms of nigiri and sashimi which is how I rate sushi places. I can't comment on any of the "foo-foo" rolls (as I derogatorily call them - lol) 'cause I prefer the more basic types of sushi. The amount of fish per piece was about normal - not too skimpy like many of the really high-end places. I had: bluefin, tako, mackerel (NOT Spanish), yellowtail - all 2-piece nigiri - and a sashimi salad. Also of note: their ginger was exceptional! Not the usual, overly harsh flavor, so it must have been treated somehow to "mute" the flavor. The only dings are for: 1. noise (it's inside a large, open building along with other restaurants). A very nice, contemporary and pleasing space, but a little noisy. Bestia in DTLA being a 10 on the noise level (unable to carry on a conversation) this is about a 7. 2. Service. It seemed they were a little under-staffed (not so unusual nowadays) and we had an less-than-optimally-experienced server. A few minor mistakes and sushi was slow to come out.More infoGlass Box Asian Coastal Inspired Kitchen + BarPrice: Moderate• Sushi• Carmel Valley•4.7
