Best Contemporary French Restaurants in Westminster

Exceptional food, ambience and staff. This was our third visit to Balthazar and it didn’t disappoint. I Would recommend and will definitely be back.

Delicious food but waited 35 minutes before the first course was served, and everything thereafter was hurried so that I could make it to the theatre before the play started. I actually had to bring to the attention of the waitstaff that my food had not been served. I wonder how long it would have been if I had said nothing.

This is a good restaurant, the food on the whole was enjoyable, the service and the ambience were good. There is room for improvement though. The food was more of a mixed bag than it might have been. My bouillebasse and my wife’s apple soufflé dessert were wonderful, but my starter of scallop (note the singular) was made up of a group of flavours that just didn’t meld. My dessert, “Black Forest” looked fantastic, but some components didn’t taste very much of anything. Service was very efficient (on Valentine’s night I suppose one might expect it to be), and the ambience was pleasant enough. Overall, pleasant enough, but I don’t think we will be rushing back.

A truly five star experience! Staff were flawless, the afternoon tea was a delight; the sandwiches and pastries were very good. We didn’t realise one could ask for more sandwiches, otherwise we would have attended with more of an appetite! Coffee (decaf available) was offered as an alternative to tea which was appreciated.

Lovely restaurant with great atmosphere in perfect location for theatres and Covent Garden. Wonderful food served by friendly staff. Have eaten here before and would recommend it has always been busy when I’ve visited which I think says it all.
