- JjohnvipSan Francisco Bay Area •87 reviews4.0Dined 6 days agoWonderfully inventive food - not your traditional Indian restaurant. The the papadam were especially impressive. Slightly haphazard service - made worse by the incredibly high noise level - everybody was shouting to be able to hear one another, which just made it worse. We chose to eat a mix of starter plates, which gave us a rich variety of tastes. But they all arrived at about the same time, so there wasn't space on the table for them., and the experience felt very rushed. Even though we hadn't ordered any mains ("big plates"), the items we ordered that would normally accompany them (naan, raita) were treated as the second course - we had to ask for them to be brought with the rest of the food. We visited in mid November. It was really cold, even though we were sitting indoors - and many fellow diners also kept their coats on, so it wasn't just us..More infoROOH Palo AltoPrice: Expensive• Contemporary Indian• Palo Alto•4.2
- CCarolSeattle / Eastern Washington •1 review5.0Dined 7 days agoBest Indian food we have ever eaten, hands down. My hubby is a food snob, hyper critical, never satusfied. Well, we went for dinner ( reservations made , thankfully) and had to go back for lunch! The tandori foods were fabulous, lamb , salmon, chicken, and shrimp. Loved the mango chutney, cashew naan (wow) , portabello mushroom appetizer (amazing), brown rice ( spiced with clove and cinnamon) , cardamom ice cream ( so unique) and the wonderfully patient and kind staff ( Nepalese servers and Indian chefs). Everything was off the charts! We were the last to leave both times so of course we had to leave a 100% tip! We will become regulars whenever in town! Job well done, Ajanta!More infoAjanta RestaurantPrice: Moderate• Indian• Berkeley•4.7
- AAnnvipNew York City •52 reviews5.0Dined on 13 Nov 2024We had the SF restaurant week menu on a weekday evening. It was wonderful! Although the choices were modest all the food was really well done. The salmon tandoori was actually creamy and nicely spiced. The butter chicken was “butter chicken” but the kofta sauce made from several vegetables was very interesting and spicy the way we like it. A dessert of kulfi with berries was a real treat. We had ordered extra duck samosa appetizers thinking we might need a bit more food but they were not needed although excellent. I especially want to call out the bartenders and wait people who couldn’t have been nicer or more accommodating. Great experience!More infoBombay BrasseriePrice: Very Expensive• French / Indian• Financial District / Embarcadero•3.9
