The Bleeding Horse is a historically significant public house located in Upper Camden Street, Dublin, Ireland. It dates at least back to the 17th century, and was located on St. Kevin’s Port (now Camden St.) at the junction of two important highways leading out of the city.On one side was Charlotte St., leading to Ranelagh and Donnybrook; on the other side was Old Camden St., which joined Richmond St. and led to Rathmines and Cullenswood. Both of these old streets disappeared during the renovations in the 1990s. The present building dates from 1871; the interior was renovated in 1992.There are (at least) two explanations for the name. One is that when a horse got the “staggers” it was bled by a farrier at the inn. Another is that the name of the pub comes from an incident during the Battle of Rathmines in 1649, when a wounded horse fled from the battle.

    Had a super night last night in The Purty Kitchen. Food was delicious and the setting was really nice and cozy. After our lovely meal we went upstairs for the “When Ireland Rocked” show which was fantastic. Definitely recommend

    Without a doubt a must on anyone’s list visiting Dublin, not only for the obvious reasons but for the fact it has amazing staff, brilliant atmosphere and the food and drink are top quality, we were taken back at the quality and portions given to the price paid. We had the pleasure of being on the premises with Conor and his beautiful family, what a gent and what a lovely family. Highly recommend a visit to The Black Forge Inn to any trip to Dublin.     The food and service is amazing. Definitely recommend the tequila oysters along with a pint of Guinness, the fresh brown bread, any beef dish and some brown bread ice cream for desert. It’s the perfect gastro pub, where the food and atmosphere is perfect. Also a great place to watch a rugby match. Would absolutely recommend and looking forward to returning.
