New York City restaurateurs Pietro and Kelly Molendini took over the classic St. James farmhouse turned restaurant. The former co-owners of Vite Vinosteria in Astoria, Queens, who had moved from the city to Centerport, spent the summer renovating the dining room to a modern, clean look with neutral tones and contemporary artwork from Pietro Molendini's native Rome. They also expanded the bar from about four to 11 seats.Pietro Molendini has spent 30 years in the food industry, with a decade of that at Cipriani and stints at both Bar Pitti and Da Silvano. Along the way, he met chef Fabian Garcia Manca, who eventually headed the kitchen at Vito Vinosteria and now joins the Molendini’s in St. James. Kelly Molendini said Manca and her husband scour the tristate area and beyond for ingredients.     My Wife and I had dinner at Osteria Umbra for the first time last night and I can honestly say we will be returning. Top tier offerings with an intimate atmosphere is the best way for me to describe our experience. I highly recommend. Jackie was our server, she was so nice, well prepared and attentive. Drink and Food menu option are plentiful you will not be disappointed.

    Amazing Gluten Free menu! It's so hard to find an actual menu for GF besides pasta with sauce or hamburger no bun! We had an amazing dinner and took dessert home because we were so full. The owner was present and going around to some tables to see how they were enjoying the evening. I let him know how amazing our Di net was a S appreciate the GF MENU!

    We went for valentine’s day dinner, and it was great. I will definitely be back. The branzino was fantastic, i would also recommend the filet mignon. Our server is was great and the food did not take too long. The cocktails did take awhile to come, which i do understand they were very busy. We are looking forward to going back soon and trying more items on the menu. One thing i would criticize would be the valet, i understand they are swamped on a Saturday night but they whip around the cars too fast in that tiny parking lot. Next time i will park in a different lot and walk over.

    My experience was phenomenal service and food was top tier I was a little miffed I had a reservation and we sat outside as compared to being inside. But otherwise highly recommend!!
