The hostess was not very nice, pretty much not friendly at all. Gave us not the table we reserved. After we complained they gave us a better table and we had a good time. Unfortunately, that experience can ruin your evening. Hostess is the face of the establishment and it makes all the difference in the world!

Very quiet because it is very empty, even during all the craziness during the holidays, this place has no customers. They changed the menu. Fine. However, it is difficult to find something tempting to order. The swordfish portion was about 4 ounces - didn’t even look appetizing and was $40+. The chicken was 1/2 chicken portion and the flavor was good, but it came cold and they took it away and just reheated it, drying it out. Again, $40+ for chicken sitting on beans. The staff was very nice but overall, I would not go back and would definitely not recommend this restaurant.

Culina exceeds expectations in all respects. The food is superb. The waitstaff is knowledgeable and helpful without hovering. We ate at Culina some time ago and it was good enough to reprise; but it has improved itself a lot since then. Now it is one of the premier Italian restaurants in Los Angeles.

I love Culina. I love their Thanksgiving Buffet. It’s probably my favorite meal of the year. But this year was a disappointment. There were a lot of favorites that were missing, and much of the food that was there was underwhelming, to put it nicely. Perhaps we’ve been spoiled by past years, but for a meal that costs $250/person, we did not feel like we got our money’s worth. Here’s what we were looking forward to that was missing this year: — Deep Fried Turkey Legs (and also the Buffalo Wings) — Freshly-made Donuts — Cornbread & Poblano Stuffing A lot of the rest of the food was just disappointing. I don’t know if there were issues in the kitchen or in the ordering process, but it all felt like the restaurant was cutting corners anywhere they could — while still charging more than ever. It felt much more like a buffet at the Radisson, and I just don’t understand how it regressed so much in a year. For example: — All of the bacon was close to raw. I get that people prefer their bacon different ways (I like mine very, very crispy), but this looked like someone had heated up a bunch of slices for about thirty seconds and sent it out. — The cocktail sauce was so watery that we didn’t even know if it was cocktail sauce at first. This felt like they had ordered too little sauce and just watered down what they had. It was, frankly, terrible. — On that note, the shrimp were small and tasted like they’d come from the frozen section at Ralph’s. — Likewise, there were no crab legs, just the claws. — Often they’ll have Jidori Chicken & Waffles, but no chicken this year, just the waffles (which are always excellent). Not to solely focus on the negatives, we did really like the Chocolate Bread Pudding and Apple Tart-thing on the dessert table. Also, the staff is always amazing, and our waiter specifically (Damien?) was top-notch. Lastly, sometimes they’ll stick us next to a live guitarist, which we don't appreciate.
