The Duke of Wellington Inn is nestled in the tranquil Tyne valley village of Newton just off the A69 near Corbridge, within easy access to Newcastle, Hadrian"s Wall Country, Hexham and Northumberland's National Park. The décor reflects the traditional country inns history but with a modern twist. Existing oak and stone has been enhanced with modern colours, furniture and fabrics, and the theme extends to the bedrooms.
Lunches and dinners are served seven days a week in the bar and dining room. The food provided is traditional British comfort eating to an exceptional standard and makes use of local, seasonal ingredients. A comprehensive range of beers and ales compliments an extensive wine list. The inn experience continues with seven bedrooms providing a very high quality of luxury accommodation. The outstanding views across the Tyne valley provide the ultimate conclusion to a visit to the Duke of Wellington which will stay with you long after you leave.

Food and service was good, but the log fires were all off and it was freezing. The pub should have either provided auxiliary heating or been closed. Management not attuned to customer needs.

Very disappointed, to be honest. We've been coming to The Duke for many years and this is the first time that I can honestly say we were disappointed. We waited for 45 minutes to receive our main courses and the restaurant had only two other customers in at the time we placed our orders. No one came to apologise or advise us of why there was such a long delay. Our table had been booked weeks in advance. When my food came, the plate was swimming in oil, so much so that when I moved the little dish containing the coleslaw, the fat had congealed around the base of it. I didn't say anything at the time because I was with a friend whom I hadn't seen for a long time and it would have spoilt the meal to have sent my food back, especially after waiting so long for it to come. I have cancelled the lunch I had booked with another friend for tomorrow, as I was so disappointed with the service and food.

Service was slow, took a long time for lunch to arrive and only 1 round of drinks offered. Food was nice but shame we had to wait so long

Came across the Duke by accident while looking on a map for somewhere to meet my friend for lunch. I think we struck gold and will definitely be going back. The staff are so friendly, it was spotlessly clean, convenient location with plenty of parking, and the menu choice was excellent. We were both delighted with what we ordered, and it was great to be able to take the dogs in. It’s an absolute gem, and I’d highly recommend it to anyone!

I have never been disappointed with The Duke of Wellington. Friendly helpful staff, extremely pleasant restaurant with nice views and excellent food. What’s not to like. We travel 26 miles to this venue so that is a recommendation in itself. Had a delightful ‘girl’s’ lunch today, thank you.
