   We come to Dukes every time we are in Kauai which is twice a year. Our dinner last night wasn’t as good as I remember. It is expensive and I don’t feel that my meal was worth $39. On the drive home we decided it won’t be our go to restaurant every time.

   Appetizers were great, main entrees were good, sides were cold. Food was coming out of the kitchen slow so and we had a flight to catch we didn’t say anything to our server.

   Food was great except the fries were cold and the salad buffet was great. Good pasta salads and the papaya seed dressing was amazing

   Beautiful restaurant, great bartenders, exceptional food, attentive wait staff. We make it a point to visit when we are in Kauai. We have always enjoyed our dining experience at Dukes’s

   Food was really good but I feel service wasn’t at its best the way we went which was a Thursday. It took almost 20 minutes for us to receive and glass of wine and a draft beer. I wrote on the special occasion section when booking the reservation that we were celebrating our honeymoon and no one acknowledged that. Meanwhile, we went to Keoki’s on Tuesday and had the same thing written and they immediately acknowledge and even had a little sign at our table. It’s just the thought and attention to detail that was missed when we went.

   I always love to visit Dukes. Have been multiple times- Maui, Oahu, San Diego. This was our first time going in Kauai for my dad’s 87th bday. Our server was fantastic and the food is always good. My only complaint is that is someone in your party is mobility challenged, it’s not a good place to take them. Long walk from the parking lot to the venue and an even longer walk to the restaurant. Once in the restaurant there are stairs and the bathroom is far away from the entrance. Once you leave there is a long path leading out to the parking lot that is not well lit at all- we had to turn on our flashlights to see. If I had known in advance , we would have enjoyed the Dukes bar area downstairs that serves casual food in a fun atmosphere.

    Our drink orders were not executed properly. The menu is very limited. Salad bar for $7 if you order and entree; if not $25 salad bar. Yikes Not a lot of choices. The pupus we ordered were not great, except the sashmini. The wontons had way too much cream cheese - couldn't taste the crab. The ribs were so so. A much different experience than the Duke's on Maui.
