    We've been here many times and the food never disappoints. It's definitely not typical Mexican; though they have tacos and enchiladas, they have pretty gourmet takes on those and other items. Our food this time was really good and well prepared. I had the salmon, which was nicely done and had nice veggies with it. Service was especially good this time. I have been here a few times in the past when the staff was a little stiff, but this time they were all very friendly and helpful. It's a great place for a special occasion.

    We had a great patio table for four and fun, efficient service. Two delicious soups(cilantro and poblano) and I always enjoy the tequila flight. A San Diego treasure.

    Made reservations for a table of 8. The Sea Bass was amazing. Similarly the Pulpo a las brasas. Perfectly cooked. Everyone at the table throughly enjoyed there meals and plates were retrieved without any food left on the plates. Medallion and shrimp was reported that the fillets were slightly over. The chicken mole similarly on the chicken Great selection of tequilas and mezcals and elevated Mexican cuisine. This place is a true gem.. Salud.

    I travel with a service dog, and usually am prepared for the worst possible treatment. That was not the case this time. It was a non-issue (as it should be) and, in fact, they gave us the best table. Their food is unsurpassed. Their service is perfection. The atmosphere is divine. This is going to be one of my regular restaurants now that I’ve moved back to San Diego. I’m giving El agave a standing ovation, kudos, and a never-ending chorus of bravissimos!

    Grilled shrimp tacos were the best I ever had in San Diego. Carlos and associates delivered excellent service. There is a reason we keep returning to eat great food. The chicken soup looked delicious and I plan to order on a rainy day.
