El Catrin, nestled in Toronto's Distillery District, offers a vibrant dining experience with "excellent food" and "friendly staff." Known for its "authentic" Mexican dishes, the guacamole and margarita flights are standout favorites. While the ambiance is lively and fun, some find it "quite expensive," and service can occasionally be slow.

It was horrible!! Freezing cold inside the dining room we sat with our coats on and when I mentioned it to the manager Vanessa or tenessa she was very short and rude and just agreed.

Very good meal at the distillery. Good idea to book ahead, especially during the Christmas market season. It's a bit expensive for what you get, but it is a great meal with great service.

We both ordered tacos … different Both tasted excellent. We both thought the area a bit on the cold side And after the waitress brought us the menu for the dessert it seemed liked it took longer than expected so we declined.

Everything was awesome except it was freezing cold. The side door to outside was constantly being opened and it was like a wind tunnel where we were sitting. I was absolutely frozen by the time we left and wasn’t warm enough to walk around the distillery.

Thank you for providing your review Nicole. While we are happy to hear that everything was awesome, we are sorry to hear of your experience regarding the cold coming into our restaurant. We do like to encourage guests to speak to a manager when anything regarding their experience is missing the mark so that we have the opportunity to turn things around in that moment. We hope we can create a better experience for you should you chose to dine with us again. Best Regards Stuart K.

Finally had my first visit at El Catrin. The atmosphere and vibe was great. Our guacamole appetizer was delicious, but the chicken in the quesadilla was dry and was overpowered by the extra cheese. Baja Tacos were ok, I would suggest they change the oil that they deep fry the fish as it didn't have a 'fresh' taste. Odd that you cannot mix and match your taco selection. Margarita was delicious, but was served in a water glass that was filled with big ice cubes. Overall, it was ok, but not worth the money I paid.

Fantastic holiday lunch with my family. The service was excellent, as was the food (especially the guacamole made fresh at the table) and the special flight of margaritas. We ate indoors this year due to the weather (it was a little drafty where we sat as we were close to a door). Ambiance was good; noise level very acceptable given how full the restaurant was. Overall a really lovely lunch.

Food took 42 minutes to arrive. While it was not worth the 42 minutes wait it was adequate. Our server was nice although he was way too busy as he was overstretched with serving other guests. The ambience and the mural in the sitting area was spectacular.

Thank you for your feedback Sherif. While we are happy to hear that you enjoyed our restaurant's ambiance, we’re sorry to hear that our food and our service did not hit the mark on this visit. We encourage guests to let a manager know when anything about the experience is missing the mark, we know that it can feel a little awkward, but we genuinely believe that our guests deserve the chance for us to make things right. We hope that we can impress you more should you choose to visit us again! Best Regards, Stuart K.
