Best Casual Restaurants in Burlington

This was my time here. The Tavern setting, staff, food and service were 5 Star! I will be back and will bring others! My pizza (mushroom & ricotta) was excellent, thin, crispy crust and moist topping, not gooey, just the right amount of 3 cheeses and ‘shrooms. Hot tea dispelled the chill from today’s high wind and low temps. Yea! Another go-to place (also good for parties).

There's a reason we eat specifically at the Burlington Legal Sea Food nearly every week. There's a bar with TVs for people who want that; but it's not a sports bar, so it's never, ever rowdy. We like to sit in a booth in the restaurant proper, though when there's a game we'd like to see, sitting at a high top near the bar is ideal. Trina, our server (who is also a bartender at times) is consistently excellent. The food was delicious - grilled shrimp over Caesar salad for me, sole with squash and mashed potatoes for my husband. Burlington is both family friendly AND hip, having a little something for everyone. (It's also good for a function; I had my 50th there before the post-Covid reno. The space is even nicer now.) No, I don't work for the company. We've just made many friends there over the years so it has come to feel like home for us.

Connor was our waiter, very attentive, patient. Never let the glasses stay empty. We ordered the old fashioned which was perfectly balanced! Tuna crudo and beet salad were excellent starters. They have run out of Beach so substituted it with roasted heirloom carrots. What a surprise! And delicious substitution. For the main course, we ordered halibut which was herb. Crusted has some horseradish like flavor on top and the base of lentils and avocado was also a great pairing. The fish was perfectly done. We also ordered the scallops dish with risotto. It had a nice citrusy flavor because of the grapefruit on top. We intentionally did not try the salmon or steak because he wanted to try something different and novel, and were delighted by our choices. For dessert, we had the butterscotch pudding which was very well done, and the candied pecans with caramel were a hit. Would love to go back here and try the wet bar options next time.

I went with my boyfriend for our six month anniversary because that’s where we had gone the same day he asked me out. We ordered the same food, meat lovers, as last time and we both laughed when roasting the marshmallows. Definitely recommend for casual dining or for special occasions!
