Best Casual Restaurants in Upper West Side

My wife and I last ate at Tavern on the Green 19 years ago, and it was great to bring our now grown up Children here during a family Christmas trip to New York from the UK. The Tavern is still charming, with good service and great (Christmassy) atmosphere. We had a selection of Burgers and Sandwiches between us and all were good, although a little big for a UK appetite! We really enjoyed our experience.

Coffee definitely up to Australian standards as was the food. Really good.

Our pre-theater dinner was extraordinary. The staff from the moment we entered through dessert was magnificent. The food was even beyond our expectations. Of course, we had the famous potato chips which were quite a hit. The salmon tartare was so well prepared and melts in your mouth ( there is a crunch too). We also had a kale and quinoa salad, tomato soup , bibimbap and lots of other delicious food. Make sure to make a reservation .. the place was packed and yet the staff was incredibly attentive. I would give it ten stars if I could.

Absolutely LOVED our first time at Carmines! From the service to the food everything was spectacular. It felt like we were part of the family and not only did Sarah, our sever, make sure we were well taken care of but everyone else who took our plates or tidied our table was so attentive and friendly. Definitely one of those core memory experiences. 10/10 Carmines…we will see you again :)

Booked back in July, and got there and didn’t have a table due to company Christmas parties. They finally fit us in later.
