My grandfather worked his way up in the restaurant industry in the 1930's and '40s and in 1942 opened his first Italian restaurant, The Sorrento. When it came time to name our new restaurant, we decided on IL Sorrento in honor of my grandfather. I know my grandparents & my mom are smiling down on us with approval. I've lived in Westchester since 1984 & have always dreamed about opening an Italian restaurant here .. now the dream is a reality. I had the tomahawk veal chop parmesan. It was delicious and the tomato sauce was different than the usual Italian sauce. It had a tang or zest to it, hard to explain, but very good. I asked the owner and he said it was marzano tomato sauce.
