The Broadway Oyster Bar is a locally owned and operated establishment and has been for over 35 years. The Oyster Bar is widely regarded as the premier New Orleans' style restaurant, bar and music venue in the Midwest. BOB, as it is affectionately known by its many fans and friends, is housed in a building that was built in the mid 1840's and is one of the oldest buildings still in daily use within the city of St. Louis. During its colorful history, our building has had many functions including a family home, a boarding house, a Chinese laundry, a record store and a bordello to name a few. These walls have heard and seen it all. Some people feel that the building is haunted by spirits who, occasionally late at night, play good hearted jokes on the staff such as doors suddenly opening or closing or lights going on or off as if by magic. Then again, it just could be because the building is over 170 years old. However, our historic building has just gone through a renovation so we now have two outdoor patios that are covered and heated during cold or rainy weather and an expanded kitchen to better serve you. Our food has won numerous awards and readers' polls for excellence and features some of the most sustainable seafood available such as fresh Gulf and Blue Point oysters, Louisiana crawfish and shrimp, Prince Edward Island mussels, scallops and crabs. Our Cajun and Creole dishes are our versions of many of the traditional Louisiana favorites. If you love New Orleans, you will feel right at home at BOB. BOB offers live music twice a day every night of the week except on Friday when we feature one act for the evening. We present the best local and national touring acts representing a variety of musical genres such as rock, reggae, bluegrass, blues, funk, R&B, roots, and jam, and weshowcase a wide variety of bands visiting from New Orleans. The live music is free up to 8 times per a week. However, for some of the more popular and well known acts, we do charge a cover which typically goes to the bands in order to keep attracting them to the BOB. Broadway Oyster Bar has been referred to by many as a staple of St. Louis and was recently honored by the St. Louis Chapter of the Missouri Restaurant Association as the 2015 Restaurant of the Year. BOB is a great choice for a relaxing dinner, a celebratory party or an opportunity to dance to a great band. As well known food writer, the late Joe Pollack, once wrote, "There is, quite simply, nothing in St. Louis quite like the Broadway Oyster Bar". That line was written over 30 years ago, but it is as true today as it was then. Welcome to the Broadway Oyster Bar Family.

Being an executive chef in the past, I’m usually not all that impressed with restaurants. I’m frugal. I figure if I’m going to spend money on someone else to prepare my food, I’d better be making yummy noises with every bite… RARELY does that happen. For our 34th anniversary, my wife and I decided to give Russel’s a go. The atmosphere was quiet and charming, intimate. The wine selection was well suited to the menu. We started with the baked ricotta… Simple, delicious, unctuous. Main course: I ordered the pork chops, my wife ordered the pot roast. Two simple, humble, basic entrées readily found in any home kitchen. THIS was not home cooking. Both meals were visually stunning. The pot roast was melt in your mouth, delicious. The hint of sweetness form the braising reduction, paired with the light bite of the horseradish, along the the creaminess of the potatoes was a perfect bite. My meal, the pork chops, ummm… WOW! A thick double chop, that I honestly thought would be on the bland side. However, the chef was able to pull flavor all the way through the chop. Cooked to a perfect med-rare center, without the exterior becoming even a little dry and chewy is a feat, but they did it. The depth of flavor was amazing, tasting different nuances in every bite. Yes, I made yummy noises with every bite, my apologies to the table next to us. As a chef, I’m usually left searching for that “extra something” in my food… it’s called “love”. The back of the house staff is obviously very skilled, producing an incredible plate, but they also put their heart into their craft, giving that “extra something” that we crave. Hat’s off, knives down to you Russel’s on Macklind. You’ve made this chef very happy.

Top notch as expected. Beautiful place, staff and servings. I had the escargot, cassoulet, and floating island, my husband had the braised beef, and profiteroles. Everything was amazing. I drank a le crusta and something excellent off the seasonal, don’t recall the name, and he scotch. Nothing was any less than expected and I had high expectations. We will be back.

I recently celebrated my birthday at Frazer's Restaurant & Lounge, and I must say, it was an unforgettable experience! From the moment I walked in, the ambiance set the perfect tone for a special evening. The menu was nothing short of spectacular. Each dish was crafted with care, showcasing a delightful blend of flavors and fresh ingredients. I was particularly impressed by the creative appetizers and the tantalizing main courses that left my taste buds dancing with joy. The dessert selection was equally impressive, making it impossible to choose just one The drink menu was a highlight as well. Their cocktails were expertly mixed, with unique creations that perfectly complemented the meal. The staff was knowledgeable and eager to provide recommendations, which made the experience even more enjoyable What truly stood out was how special the staff made me feel on my birthday. From the warm greetings to the little surprises throughout the evening, they went above and beyond to ensure my celebration was memorable. I truly felt cherished, which made the night all the more magical Overall, Frazer's Restaurant & Lounge is a gem that I highly recommend for anyone looking to celebrate a special occasion or simply enjoy an exquisite meal. Thank you for making my birthday so remarkable!

Bob always offers a genuine warm welcome. The specials change regularly enough to keep provide a nice array of options from salads to pasta. I opted for the cioppino & house salad today which did not disappoint. John was an award-winning server.
