- SSteveLondon •3 reviews4.0Dined 1 day agoA relaxed late afternoon/early-evening Sunday Christmas treat for four. Luckily they weren't too busy as we probably over stayed our welcome! Food first: There was a Sunday (Festive) Menu on, which didn't have too many options for mains, but didn't disappoint: Cauliflower soup, Salmon starters and the two roast dinners were excellent, and even the Fish and Chips were very good. Sizeable portions meant only one of the party could manage a dessert: Christmas Pudding with (I think) Creme Anglais was eagerly finished and described as "tasty: spicy with a good shot of booze". Nice selection of wines at reasonable prices: the women of the party had a New Zealand Sauvignon Blanc which was described as "ooh, that's nice"! Lovely setting, nice comfy settees for drinks, friendly staff - attentive but not overbearing. In hindsight, if we were being very, very picky, the large-ish downstairs room was a tad on the cool side but it's probably fine if it's busier (we ate at a fairly odd time, about 4.30 on a Sunday afternoon). All in all, we'd definitely recommend and will certainly return.More infoThe Merchant's YardPrice: Expensive• British• Tideswell•4.5

First time my son has come with us to a decent restaurant, 11 years old he had mussels, sirloin and a chocolate fondant. Loved everything he ate. Comte gougere- phenomenal!! Snacks through to dessert all cooked & presented well, can tell they use quality ingredients and have a kitchen team that can cook. Servers all polite and friendly. As a chef it’s hard to go out to eat and enjoy it however the Duncombe arms delivered great food, friendly unintrusive service at good value (£75 each snacks, 3 courses with service charge and tip too)More infoThe Duncombe ArmsPrice: Expensive• British• Ashbourne•4.6
- HHayleyManchester/Greater Manchester •1 review5.0Dined 5 days agoWe are a family of four, including two boisterous children. The gentleman who served us absolutely “got the memo” that I needed to discreetly pick the most suitable table to ensure we didn’t disrupt other diners. He was excellent and understanding the boys’ need to be away from other customers and brought us kids menus. The menus seem “slim pickings” but we felt like we had a good selection for our picky kids and us being pescatarian. The cocktail menu was great and we enjoy a few of those. The kids had good sized portions or burger and chicken “nugget” and thick cut chips. We had a selection of veggie sharing plates. All of the food was so incredibly tasty and we felt really full despite the portion sizes looking quite small on arrival. We’d definitely like to return to have more of the menu. We’d just have appreciated a faster service because the kids were getting restless waiting for their puddings. Other than that, this is a very easy place to recommend to others!More infoThe Restaurant at The RefugePrice: Moderate• Global, International• Manchester•4.3

The service is some of the best we’ve ever experienced. We had some brilliant recommendations on food and wine and I can’t thank the team enough for a wonderful evening.More infoBlacklock ManchesterPrice: Expensive• Steak• Manchester•4.8

Only small recommendation is that the dips should come with flat bread without having to pay extra.More infoVoltaPrice: Expensive• Tapas / Small Plates• Didsbury•4.8
