Originally built as a farmhouse for Link House Farm, one of the three farms which made up early Amble, the pub is one of the oldest buildings in the whole of the town! Records dating back as far as 1842 show that the farm was owned by a Mrs Maria Wellwood - a possible explanation for the pub's name today! Our traditional pub classics are expertly crafted from our seasonal menus and the bar is crammed with local ales and tipples to tempt any taste buds. Using the most seasonal ingredients and decadent flavours, there's a dish for every desire. Kiln is a small restaurant in the heart of the Ouseburn.     Such a beautiful little gem. It has such a magical Christmas vibe in the shop with lots of Christmas decorations, jewellery, candles, clothes and handbags to purchase, through to the amazing food. We arrived early for our table but the lovely staff member found us another table so we didn’t have to wait around. I ordered the pie and chips with veg and, wow is all I can say. I would say that you need time to rest afterwards as the portion sizes are huge. Very good value for money. Can’t wait to go back. If you haven’t been there before, you must visit.

    5 of us visited for the first time today 18th dec. We had a mixture of meals from the Christmas menu, everything was perfect, the restaurant has a lovely cosy feel and we all thoroughly enjoyed our afternoon, we will definitely visit again.

    Lovely food, excellent customer service and great atmosphere! We came here for my nephews 21st and had the best night. Thank you for being so welcoming and bringing out the birthday dessert at the end of the night. Made everything just perfect 😊

    Lovely lunch with friends today. Service was excellent with someone who clearly enjoyed his job and explained the menu for us. Food was good and nobody minded us lounging over coffee/tea. Highly recommend and dog friendly too!

    Lovely roast dinner only spoiled by being swamped with so much gravy it was spilling over the plate! But the meat was lovely. We did not realise that the football would be on screens everywhere in the pub - we probably would not have chosen to eat there if we had known but that is not reallly a criticism - we just didn’t know and are not fans
