Abacá is an airy, atelier-style restaurant with a cool outdoor terrace, whipping up Filipino-Californian cuisine with flair in Fisherman's Wharf. It's the bricks-and-mortar spin off of chef Francis Ang's pop-up Pinoy Heritage. The lively menu is split up into barbecue sticks, noodles and rice, and small to big plates, but its far more nuanced than just that. It’s always a treat dining here. One of my friends have not been here for a couple of years and he says, the food was as good as the first time he ate there. Consistent all throughout. We had a last minute change the day prior from originally reservation for 5 but increased to 10 people and they were able to accommodate us.

We keep coming back because it is a terrific place on so many levels. The menu is full of delicious dishes and the service is perfectly timed and executed. We always feel welcome and completely at ease. One of San Francisco's most pleasant dining experiences.

Our waiter and every single person who served our dishes were wonderful. The service, from when we were greeted, all the way to the end—we were treated with such care and fun! We were in town to celebrate a reunion, a baby, and a birthday. We had the tasting menu with the kaldereta and cocktails/mocktails. All were fantastic. Because I am pregnant, the staff made sure I was accommodated and still experienced flavorful dishes. Everything was superb and, as a native Filipino, I was pleased as to how our heritage was honored. We will be back.
