With its low ceilings, exposed beams and homely inglenook fireplaces, it has all the charm of what you expect from a historic pub and restaurant. Listed as one of the Britain’s most important buildings, this is a slice of history set right in the heart of the Somerset countryside in a popular English village. A nice place - country style pub with a lovely log fire in bar as we came in - a shame they hadn’t lit the one in the dining room as was cold in there without it and could have done with that to feel more of a Xmas ambience. We booked for Xmas meal for 4 pre order festive menu - was not as good as we hoped considering their normal home cooked food is usually very good! This felt more catering company style and could have been better done themselves if home made - not a large selection of veg on our roast at all and not a great Xmas pud - dry! None the less, it is good value for money for the food at £34 per head. We felt a bit fuelled with drinks between and with long waits to ensure they made money in the bar. Not ideal for non drinkers, but we did have a few so worked in our case. Overall a fair price and reasonable meal, but wouldn’t do the set menu with this pub again based on this visit. We much prefer their own menu and would visit again for the home made food.

Thank you. A half-way meeting point with my sister and brother-in-law to exchange Christmas gifts. An excellent Christmas lunch, in an ideal setting. The service was friendly and swift. A very pleasant dining area. Thank you, and highly recommended.

Thoroughly enjoyed our meals, in fact we have since been to the Pony and we agreed that the food at the Congresbury Arms was better. All meals came with a great selection of very tasty vegetables and gravies. Would definitely recommend.

Good food and friendly service during a busy lunchtime. Excellent choice of beers and wines. Service was 'relaxed' but we weren't in any rush, so it was perfect. Hope to be back soon.
