The old is celebrated in new ways at Bar George, a modern-day rendezvous set in the grand heritage home once belonging to Sir George Stephen. Honouring the former resident’s roots, our chefs cook up contemporary takes on classic U.K. fare, spiked with Québécois quirks, while our bar pours time-tested drinks.

This was a fantastic experience. We ordered the 2 course special for lunch. Tried the escargot, French onion soup, steak and mussels. The serving size was generous and the food was AMAZING. I would recommend this restaurant to anyone visiting the downtown Montreal area.

9e is an elegant yet relaxed restaurant, with excellent servers, very polite and respectful, and beautiful background music from several cultures and time periods. Our meals were simple yet perfectly prepared (an omelette for my friend, and beer-battered cod with greens for me). We celebrated with a glass of prosecco, and shared a wonderful dacquoise, a decadent chocolate cake with a praline outer layer, and rich cream to spoon on the top. A great treat for us both!

Dinner was delicious. We chose the promotional Happy Gourmand menu. Our server was absolutely lovely. Prompt, professional, and pleasant. The decor and atmosphere was ideal for our dinner. Elevated casual. There were people in jeans and in suits. Highly recommend.
