Situated in the historic village of Aylesford, The Hengist is a modern restaurant and bar, a short walk from the river's edge.The 16th Century building stands with original features, offering a perfect balance of elegance, heritage and modernity all surrounded by manicured gardens. The Hengist offers a range of dining options including a casual dining option on the ground floor and two more formal dining rooms upstairs along with outside terrace dining in our gardens. We offer seasonal 'a la carte and 'set' menus along with a 'Sunday lunch' menu. All of our dishes are freshly made to order with locally sourced ingredients.

Open Tuesday to Sunday with food served all day from noon.We now have 3 Giant heated Tipis, they provide lots of fresh air and a lovely open environment, they are also heated.Formerly an 18th Century farmhouse boasting exposed beams, oak floors, exposed brickwork and oak tables. This leads to a very relaxed and cosy atmosphere with candle lit tables and real flame stoves.The cuisine is typically modern European, classically cooked using cornerstones such as stock pots to create their sauces with a brigade that has a passion for what they do.     Such an incredible restaurant! The food was unreal and the service was excellent. I even received a beautiful birthday dessert on the house! So impressed with the service and quality of food especially being vegan and gluten free, there were soooo many incredible options to choose from. We ended up ordering 8 plates because everything sounded so good and each dish definitely lived up to their description, if not better. Thank you to everyone for making our evening so magical, special thank you to Meriam who was so attentive and knowledgeable, she gave us the best taco recommendations! :)

    Other then being out of some of the things we wanted to try, it was very good. Service was outstanding! Super nice staff and fish and chips were unbelievable! Line was out the door but luckily we made a reservation. I recommend going earlier in the day before menu items run out.

    We have dined in some of Londonds best restaurants and we said when we got home that this was the first restaurant that we have been in in the past year that we didnt have a moan about, Food excellent,service very dood an friendly,good wine list, and very nice atmosphere
