Best Restaurants for Outdoor Dining in Lawrence

I recently dined at Grunauer and had a wonderful experience. The ambiance was warm and inviting, with a cozy yet sophisticated atmosphere. I started with the lobster bisque, which was rich, creamy, and full of deep seafood flavors. It had a smooth texture with just the right balance of seasoning. Next, I tried the sweet potato soup, which was a pleasant surprise—velvety, slightly sweet, and well-spiced, making it a comforting and flavorful choice. For the main course, I had the salmon, which was perfectly cooked—moist on the inside with a beautifully crisp exterior. The seasoning complemented the natural flavor of the fish without overpowering it. The dish was well-plated and paired nicely with the sides. Overall, the service was excellent, with attentive and friendly staff. Grunauer truly delivers on quality and flavor, and I would highly recommend it to anyone looking for a refined yet hearty dining experience in Kansas City. I’ll definitely be returning!

Our experience was terrific from start to finish. We were a few minutes late because of traffic but we were seated without much delay - which we expected. We had great seats in a booth on the back side of the bar. Our server, Regine, was perfectly attentive to us and answered our every question. The food was terrific, as well. We are glad that this is our annual tradition for Valentine’s Day.

Another delicious visit to this hidden gem. You could order with your eyes closed and still love your choices. Because it’s a small room, people can choose to focus only on their group or enjoy one another’s company. We met a young couple having lunch there for the first time and exchanged our thoughts on favorite dishes. A lovely Valentine’s Day experience.

Great food (we had oysters, scallops, and crab cakes), wonderful service (Caroline and Nicole are terrific!), nice surroundings. We try to pick our reservation times carefully as it is very, very loud and difficult to converse during Happy Hour and their peak dining times.

First time visiting and was over the moon! Everything we ate was amazing, our server so so sweet and had great recommendations. The vibe was very cozy and chic. We will DEFINITELY be coming back. I wish I knew our waitress’ name, she was phenomenal.
