Vallozzi's started over 50 years ago when Helen Vallozzi was selling homemade pastas out of her home. Helen opened a take out restaurant in Latrobe, PA a few years later where her popularity exploded. In 1977, Ernie Vallozzi moved his mothers location to Greensburg where it is still open and operating today. In 2012 Ernie's son Julian expanded the tradition in to downtown Pittsburgh. Vallozzi's Pittsburgh has recently joined a mere 1,200 restaurants worldwide as a recipient of the Wine Spectator Magazine's Best of Award of Excellence and is the only Italian restaurant in Pittsburgh to receive such an honor. We can host your intimate date, family dinner, business meetings, or larger parties in our banquet room. Or come enjoy a specially made cocktail in our bar area and a small bite.

Four of us went to this restaurant for the first time before a Christmas show. My husband has ALS and is in a wheelchair and they quickly noticed and placed us at an accessible table and removed a chair for his comfort. ADA issues do not exist here - they were prepared and very accommodating. We started out with meatballs and focaccia with squash dip for appetizers. Drink list is extensive - it had interesting holiday options - but we just had Chianti and helltowne beer. We got chopped and arugula salads to share - I don’t even typically enjoy arugula but the salad looked interesting and we devoured them. They were absolutely delicious. Our entrees were tagliatelle, ricotta gnocchi, sausage and pepper pizza, and rigatoni vodka sauce. Everything was amazing. All four of us immensely enjoyed our meals. Gelato for dessert. Server was polite and attentive. It was one of the best experiences and amazing food that we’ve had in a restaurant downtown in ages. This place is a gem. We will be back 100%.

Delicious food and superb service. A little loud and tight for my taste, but it is one of my favorites. So glad it’s on the Northside.

The menu isn't extremely long, but the food is creative and excellently prepared. We had a new version of their chicken dish and I had the burger which was off the menu. Both were excellent. We also had wedge salad and beef tartar, all worthwhile.
