After 25 years of success, we changed the name in 2000 to Gilbey's, having recognised that our food had outgrown the original wine bar concept. This was my first visit to the Boatman. Reasons I chose it other than the good reviews was location (on the river) and the choice on the menu. I’m a personal trainer and do struggle sometimes to find ‘healthier’ options so I’m his menu was a blessing ! So many different choices. I went for Seabass with new potatoes and fine beans on the side. It was absolutely delicious and a really good amount of food too 😮 The food was served in a really good time considering it was very busy. We sat in the outside area and although it was warm, they kindly turned the heat off in our section. The staff were really welcoming and helpful - they checked on us a couple of times and couldn’t do enough. Can’t wait to go back !

Wonderful Festive afternoon tea. The food was delicious and presented well. My only thought was that the sandwiches didn’t match up to the beautiful cakes as far as creativity. However, the overall experience and service was excellent. Definitely recommend and will return. Thank you.
