Best Restaurants with a Fireplace in Foggy Bottom

The vegan brunch here is awesome!! I've been before but this time had a chance to try their new menu. 10 out of 10 would certainly recommend! The staff was great, very attentive and provided a detailed description of the food when it came to the table.

Griffin was so helpful and recommended wine pairings and courses for us to try. He was very knowledgeable about the wines and answered all our questions. He wrote us a personal note congratulating us on our anniversary and engagement and really made the whole night very special. The food was very tasty and well worth the price. We both left stuffed and happy! Thanks for ringing in this new chapter with us.

It was an absolutely amazing experience. We were running a bit for our reserved time of 8pm, but they were more than accommodating. The atmosphere was cozy, and romantic given it was Valentine's Day. We were quickly seated and even though it was quite busy, we did not have to wait long for our server to hand us the Valentine's Day menu and take our drink order. The food was amazing, considering it was my first time experiencing French style cuisine. The server recommended a delicious wine to pair with the meal. I had the veal chop, and I can tell you it was the most tender, flavorful cut of meat I've had. The bill came out a bit steep, but nothing I wasn't prepared for with it being a fine dining restaurant. I would definitely like to experience their regular menu items and will make it a priority to return when I'm in the area again.

1789 is where we go to celebrate anniversaries, birthdays & other special occasions because its food, service and classy ambiance make our visits memorable. Highly recommend it without reservations. ❤️

The perfect place on a snowy night in DC. The staff. Was very attentive and the food was phenomenal! I highly recommend you place this on your must go list.
