The Lexington is more than a restaurant, it’s an institution. Located on the corner of Lexington Parkway and Grand Avenue, this St. Paul community was the most fashionable at the turn of the 19th century. The St. Paul elite lived just blocks away and the first electric trolley brought visitors up and down Grand Avenue. The Lexington opened in 1935, after the end of prohibition, and was a popular neighborhood bar to gather and socialize. This was our first time at Joan's. Everything about our experience was fantastic! The service was prompt, friendly, and educational. The owner and Chef were interactive with the guests. Both of us agreed that this was the best tasting menu that we have ever experienced. We have eaten at many fine dining restaurants from Alinea on down and truly do feel this was the greatest. The presentation was gorgeous, the wine pairings were spot on, and the lemon dessert brought tears to my wife as it reminded her of her grandmother's recipe. Our anniversary is in 2 weeks. As soon as we got home, we canceled the reservation we had and booked to celebrate at Joan's in the Park! Thank you, ladies, for the grand experience!

My wife and I did the Champagner Brunch at Baldamar on Nov. 23. It was fantastic; everything we hoped it would be. The wait staff was very well informed about the food and drink offerings, and provided us with valuable insight. The food was very good, though somewhat hit and miss. The Scallop and pasta dish was fantastic; we ordered it twice. The crab cake was more cake than crab. The calamari was very good, as was the lamb curry. The cocktails, and limitless champagne and wine, were great. They did not go cheap on their alcohol offerings. Bottom line, it was a memorable experience for our anniversary celebration, and well worth the expense.
