- MMichaelvipNew York City •13 reviews5.0Dined 3 days agoYopparai is one of my two favorite Japanese restaurants in New York and I’ve been going there about 15 years. Yopparai (which means “a drunk” in Japanese because of its great sake list) is simple, excellent Japanese home cooking. The counter seats are for 2 people and that’s the best way to eat there if it’s just 2. The staff is outstanding and quality is excellent. They always have specials so it never gets old. My favorites are the sashimi sampler where the only use the best fish and great variety, karaage (fried chicken), kanuni (pork belly in dashi broth), tsukune (a chicken meatball patty topped with a raw egg yolk you mix together) and grilled squid! Love this place. Always feel like home!More infoYopparaiPrice: Very Expensive• Izakaya• Lower East Side•4.6
- MMelissavipNew York City •8 reviews4.0Dined 5 days agoFood was great. Almost everything on the menu was gluten free which was amazing. The place is very nice inside, but we were sat in a dark area which was a little hard to see. Also a little hard to hear each other talk from the noise of other people seating close to us. Service was decent.More infoCasa OraPrice: Expensive• Venezuelan• Williamsburg•4.6
- DdanNew York City •6 reviews5.0Dined 5 days agowe've been a few times. every one has been outstanding! window tables have a spectacular view of the bridge & lower manhattan, with the east river ferries docking so close you could almost touch them. catch dom on piano if you can; he's been playing there for decades and with good reason. the best wait staff you'll find anywhere! stunning entrance plantings at the end of the cobblestone drive. oh yeah, the chow... last night, nantucket bay scallops for appetizer, sea bass for main course, "the bridge" for dessert, plus additional on-the-house items. all excellent. russian caviar for those with too much disposable income. don't forget: bring your home equity line of credit or similar. well worth it. go big or go home.More infoThe River CafePrice: Very Expensive• American• DUMBO•4.9
