Water Lane is a restaurant based within a working market garden in the High Weald of Kent. Guided by the seasons, our menu reflects its sense of place in the English countryside where we grow our own vegetables and use local suppliers. Our ever changing menu is simple but prepared with imagination and care by our Head Chef Jed Wrobel and his team. The Good Food Guide 2023 describes us as 'A contender for one of the most charming eateries in Kent, it's pretty much impossible to resist the lure of this rural restaurant tucked away in a delightful walled garden...' Extremely welcoming; excellent food and service; expensive but you get what you pay for I don’t like background music most restaurants that I’ve been in have it - indeed once InCornwall we were the only diners at lunch and asked for the music to be turned off. The staff said they were unable to do this, but they could turn it down a bit, I suspect that a poll of diners would overwhelmingly ask for a quiet restaurant. I have not seen such a poll.

We visited on a Wednesday evening and were pleasantly surprised to see a number of tables occupied. The place was warm and playing good background music. We all had a steak which was of excellent quality and cooked exactly to our requirements. The service was very good and we thoroughly enjoyed our meal. We would highly recommend.
