When I opened my doors in July of 2009, I committed to serving the freshest Italian dishes made from local and seasonal ingredients. I learned early the heart of Italian cooking is the flavor…or sapore. My school of teaching was from the best; my Nonna Elena and Mother Lia. Their philosophy has been carried on in my style of cooking: use simple ingredients and the food will speak for its self. Classic Italian dishes grace the menu but are personalized with my unique touch. Quality and consistency is what you will find with each dish. I would never serve anything short of that.     We started with beet carpaccio which was amazing. Then shared the pear and gorgonzola salad. The birthday boy got a steak and I got the Delicata Squash side. At that point I was so full that I could barely finish half, even though it was delicious. Everything about the evening was wonderful and our server, Jordan, was engaging. There when we needed her but not hovering. It's a lively atmosphere, so not the place if you want to have a quiet convo but the food and service are top notch.

    It is a thrill to walk in and see their fabulous bakery cases. You can't forget what you just saw and it is on your mind as you order from Russell's interesting menu. Food was great, waiter was great and the carrot cake, claimed to be the best in St. Louis (correct) and an expresso chocolate cake where a wonderful end to the meal.
