We elected to have stools at the bar instead of table seating. My friend was running later and the bar staff couldn’t have been nicer - v good spicy Bloody Mary and then excellent eggs and potatoes for brunch. The Odeon is a classic and never disappoints - a stool at the bar is way nicer than the larger room I think. It’s proxy for standard brasserie food but it does what it does v well and service and front of house and bar staff all excellent

River Cafe fully retains its fabled elegance. In some ways, it is a throwback to a time when New York had so many restaurants that were worth dressing up for. Now there are just a few, but River Cafe is perhaps the best. I don't know which is better, their wonderful food, their lovely decor, their spectacular views of Manhattan, their incredibly attentive service, or (given all this) their not unreasonable pricing -- but it is all terrific.
