At Old Wharf, we stand in the historical location of former jetties, piers, homes and taverns from where, since the 1800s colourful traders, merchandisers, exporters and explorers have shipped Tassie’s renowned produce across the globe.Chef Simon Pockran and his team acknowledge this history by creating a menu that celebrates and explores Tasmania’s traditional family dishes. Reimagined and refined, this menu gives the nod to our past while championing our celebrated produce and boutique Tasmania growers.

Belvedere feeds a growing global appetite for authentic local encounters intertwined with paddock to plate. Through thoughtful interactions, we will create experiences that talk to the providence of the site (through art and design) and to the produce we serve. The site’s colonial backstory serves as an entrée to its incarnation as ‘The Belvedere’ – a beloved Art Deco dance hall that shaped the city’s social fabric from the late 1930s. This story is memorialised in mesmerising chain art – featuring a 7.5m x 3m Kriskadecor panel.Paying homage to this memory, the new ‘Belvedere’ will take its rightful spot as a modern-day gathering place, inviting travellers, corporate crowds and locals to celebrate the best of Tasmania. From paddock to seashore, the menu will showcase the Apple Isle’s rich bounty of produce, and Cape Grim Beef will share centre stage with Meander Valley Chicken, local cheeses and artisan products.

Beautiful restaurant with stunning Derwent River & vineyard views. The original Shed was built on the Mt Nassau property in the early 1900's and met with it's demise in the 1967 bushfires. Built to replace the original Sheds were a Tractor and Shearing shed.In 2021 work began on "The Shed" Restaurant which has been built in the exact same footprint as the original Sheds and some of the wood from the old Shed were used to make the table bases. With our incredible head Chef Andrew Russell and our Restaurant Manager Jessica Johnson leading our team of wine and food experts, there is no better spot to sit and enjoy an amazing meal with awards winning wine.

Scrumptious lunch! The duck breast was delicious and the pear and apple salad that accompanied it was a delight. I highly recommend. Service was professional and considered. All in all, a wonderful experience, which I hope to repeat soon.

Food excellent and service attentive but not obtrusive. Servings huge so takeaway containers needed for done of our food. It wasn’t a busy early weeknight but ambience a little lacking and toilets although clean looking dated and a few finishing touches not completed. Overall a good meal.

I attended this restaurant with a friend who uses a wheelchair. Upon arrival the waiter moved items to ensure a clear pathway to our table. He also removed the chair so that my friend's wheelchair could be at the table. Service was very prompt, attentive, friendly and knowledgeable about the menu and alcohol list. We ordered oysters, ravioli and salt and pepper squid. All meals were outstanding in not only presentation but flavour as well. The decor was delightful and comfortable. Would definitely come and dine here again.
