Tired of the loosely French inspired humdrum of restaurants popping up across the city of London? Do you like holidays? Do you like cold drinks and warm service? The idea came from a mirror in an antiques market and a love for a more informal approach to dining, the result is a chippy in North London with old church pews bolted to the walls to be leaned on and eaten from. The focus is on fish but the menu transcends fish, mammals and vegetables, leaving no stone unturned in the never ending quest for flavour. Split between two rooms, the front the engine, the kitchen and bar shared by customers as they perch on bar stools and enjoy dinner and a show. Carlos@b&v brings the finer side of dining and service to this unique little part of North London, on the Green in Winchmore Hill, a stone's throw from the mainline station of the same name and a short drive from Southgate on the end of the Piccadiily Line. Carlos himself is a restauranteur with flair, having built a reputation in the area over 30 years and so his experience with executing a dynamic and slick establishment brings much to be excited about. Guests will get that familiar 'welcome back' feeling even if they happen to be newcomers. The interiors are comfortably chic but inviting, with a warm ambience and the atmosphere is busy and vibrant. Live music and niche little magic entertainers are a regular occurrence. With an open alfresco feel in the summer, looking out on to the Green itself and a pavement terrace in warmer months too. The menu is Modern European with a specials menu that changes regularly and plenty of choice on the drinks and cocktail menu.

I ate from set menu which was excellent value, delicious food and service. A good honest Italian restaurant, everything was perfect. Great atmosphere, the restaurant was full but not noisy, so able to have conversation without shouting.

Final visit of the year, and during the very busy run up to Christmas. They'd had a full restaurant over the extended lunch period but food quality, service and friendliness was as good as ever for the evening. A nice, lively atmosphere but not too raucous. We chose from old favourites and the special festive menu and all were cooked to perfection as usual - Marco heading the kitchen and Davide hosting the front of house. Standards remain very high - as expected of this award winning restaurant!🏆 Congratulations! Many thanks to all the team, and we wish you all a great Christmas and a successful and happy New Year.
