A typical food love story. A boy meets a girl while eating pizza. He attends culinary school and open’s a pizza restaurant named after the girl. Thus bringing us to Emily! The Manhattan iteration of the Brooklyn based pizzeria centered around a historic brick oven and comforting food. Emily has earned a following for its signature Detroit-style pies and award winning burger. The pizza here is rectangular (not round) and utilizes the "frico" technique, in which cheese is drizzled on the edges of the pie to create a crispy brown exterior. Beyond the main event, the menu extends to include salads and sandwiches, which shouldn't be ignored (think an attention-grabbing burger and a top-notch spicy fried chicken sandwich). A warm, lovely spot to eat. You can feel the history and taste the love that goes into the delicious food prep. Don't miss it if you visit or live in NYC. One drawback/negative ... in my reservation I wrote that I was bringing a friend we were celebrating her birthday. I thought there would be some kind of celebratory dessert provided as I've experienced in other establishments. There wasn't even an acknowledgement.

It was wonderful and richly experienced! It was so good last night we came back today for lunch!! In addition to the awesome food we met a most beautiful waitress and knowledgeable to the Tee …Margo!! She’s a testament to the highly respected and legacy of Tavern on the Green❤️The other waiters and especially the manager last night was truly awesome!! Thank you for another memorable trip to Tavern on the Green! Looking forward to next time!😍

We really enjoyed our meal. The ambiance was wonderful. Superb service and excellent food. I would go here again. The best part is that it was not crowded and not noisy like other NYC restaurants. This was for dinner on a Monday night.
