Best Neighbourhood Gem Restaurants in Selden

We have been regulars over the years as far back as Jewel. Since Bijou and now Halston, Paul remains the top maitre d and Alicia & Kat our best servers. Now we have gone through a variety of chefs but the current one is hitting home runs. The sushi is always the best and we have never come and not ordered a roll, but beyond this, my wife was raving about her Chilean Sea Bass special last night. This is indeed a rarity and was a pleasant surprise. She also ordered the fish tacos as an appetizer and was by far the best we tasted. We always share a quinoa salad which is enough for 4 people but the taste is too complex to pass up. Now I for my main course had the brisket again and the plate is just chock full of savory goodies but bring your appetite for this one. Now as if that was not enough, we still found room for their scrumptious hot apple crisp desert and their version of banana cream pie. My wife who is a very harsh food critic is still raving about last night's dining experience. Like a fine wine, they just keep getting better with time. "Salut"

We enjoyed everything on Saturday at Besitos. They go out of their way to be accommodating. We asked for a specific table and although they could not guarantee it in advance they managed to give it to us—on a Saturday night with a full house. Even though they were very busy we never felt rushed. It was a wonderful experience. The margaritas and the food was excellent as always. Besitos is consistently excellent.

We decided to enjoy an evening out without the kids and thought Blackstone’s would be a great treat. We were right! Rich and Jory were absolutely fantastic. Rich impressed us with his knowledge, memory and thoughtful approach. Jory was delightful in following up and tending to our needs. The food was excellent. Loved the brandy mushrooms with the ribeye flambéed before us at the table. And the Key Lime pie and coffee topped off our wonderful dining experience. Still the best restaurant on Long Island a decade after having kids!

Two excellent individual beef wellingtons at perfect medium rare. Sushi appetizer was great as always, as was their classic wedge salad.

Matteo’s never disappoints… whether a casual dinner out or a special occasion like Christmas Eve tonight it excels. Our server Anthony was attentive, but gave us time to converse and enjoy our meal. Can’t wait to go back. Merry Christmas!!
